SEO prompt for any AI tool

Topical authority content-planning prompt

Build a focused content cluster from genuine audience needs without producing dozens of thin or overlapping pages.

Updated 10 October 20266 minute read
A structured SEO prompt separating findings, recommendations and approved changes

Copy-and-paste prompt

This prompt works with any AI assistant that can review your website project or the information you share with it. That includes Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and the assistants built into Lovable, Bolt and Replit.

What to give the assistant: Replace each bracketed field with information from your own website. If the assistant can inspect the project directly, give it access to the correct folder or repository as well.

Ask for the report first. Approve individual changes only after the assistant has shown you where it found each issue and you understand the proposed fix.

Plan a focused content cluster for this business. Do not invent search volumes and do not recommend a page for every keyword variation.

Business and offer: [DETAILS]
Audience: [AUDIENCE]
Core expertise and evidence available: [DETAILS]
Existing relevant pages: [URLS]
Known query or competitor data: [DATA OR NONE]

1. Define the central commercial topic and the decisions the audience needs to make.
2. Group related questions by shared intent. Merge phrases that should be answered on one page.
3. Recommend a small set of hub, service, comparison, evidence and supporting-guide pages.
4. Give each page a unique purpose, suggested URL and main question.
5. Map the internal links between pages and explain why each link helps.
6. Identify which pages require first-hand experience, examples, data or expert review.
7. Mark low-value, duplicative or risky ideas that should not be published.
8. Suggest a realistic publication order based on business value and dependencies.

Return the plan as a table followed by a simple hub-and-spoke map. Clearly label all assumptions and data gaps.

When to use it

  • When planning several months of useful content.
  • When existing articles overlap or compete.
  • When a site needs supporting resources around its main services.

What it checks

  • Topic and intent grouping
  • Page differentiation
  • Commercial relevance
  • Evidence requirements
  • Internal-link architecture and publication order

What it cannot prove

An AI assistant can inspect supplied code and information, but it should not be treated as independent evidence that Google can crawl, index or rank the website.

  • Authority is not created by publishing volume alone.
  • Reliable demand and competitor assessment require external data.
  • The business must contribute genuine expertise, examples and editorial judgement.

Worked example

This is an illustrative scenario rather than a client result.

Instead of generating 30 articles around minor keyword variations, the plan recommends one service page, one comparison, two implementation guides and a case study, with a clear linking route between them.

Verify the result

After using the prompt, check every approved change on the published website. Save the original report and the final verification so you can see what actually changed.

Book a site review and we will check the live pages for you, or send us a message if you would like to describe the problem first. You can also browse the rest of the resources hub.
