SEO prompt for any AI tool

Existing-page SEO improvement prompt

Review an existing page for intent, usefulness, trust and conversion before deciding whether any copy should change.

Updated 10 October 20266 minute read
A structured SEO prompt separating findings, recommendations and approved changes

Copy-and-paste prompt

This prompt works with any AI assistant that can review your website project or the information you share with it. That includes Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor and the assistants built into Lovable, Bolt and Replit.

What to give the assistant: Replace each bracketed field with information from your own website. If the assistant can inspect the project directly, give it access to the correct folder or repository as well.

Ask for the report first. Approve individual changes only after the assistant has shown you where it found each issue and you understand the proposed fix.

Review this existing page without rewriting it yet.

Page URL or copy: [PASTE URL OR COPY]
Target audience: [AUDIENCE]
Primary commercial purpose: [PURPOSE]
Known search queries or Search Console data: [DATA OR NONE]

Assess separately:
- whether the page satisfies the likely search intent;
- whether its title, H1 and opening make the topic clear;
- missing questions, evidence, examples or decision-making information;
- unsupported, vague or repetitive claims;
- sections that appear written for word count rather than readers;
- internal links that would help the next step;
- trust signals and first-hand expertise that could be added honestly;
- conversion friction or an inappropriate call to action;
- technical issues visible in the supplied page.

Return Keep, Improve, Remove and Investigate recommendations. Quote the exact passage behind each recommendation. Do not invent data or rewrite the whole page unless I approve a specific section.

When to use it

  • When a page gets impressions but few useful visits.
  • During a content refresh.
  • Before allowing an AI tool to rewrite an important service page.

What it checks

  • Intent alignment
  • Clarity and differentiation
  • Evidence and trust
  • Internal links
  • Conversion and visible technical issues

What it cannot prove

An AI assistant can inspect supplied code and information, but it should not be treated as independent evidence that Google can crawl, index or rank the website.

  • Search performance conclusions need actual analytics and Search Console data.
  • A model cannot supply first-hand expertise the business does not provide.
  • Full rewrites can erase useful detail, so recommendations should be approved section by section.

Worked example

This is an illustrative scenario rather than a client result.

A service page has a clear offer but spends half its copy defining basic terms. The review keeps the strong proof section, shortens the generic explanation and requests a real delivery example before suggesting new wording.

Verify the result

After using the prompt, check every approved change on the published website. Save the original report and the final verification so you can see what actually changed.

Book a site review and we will check the live pages for you, or send us a message if you would like to describe the problem first. You can also browse the rest of the resources hub.
